Kokkalas to succeed Kassow as Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Germany

Theodoros Kokkalas (55) will succeed Dr. Achim Kassow (53) as Chairman of the Board of Management of ERGO Deutschland AG (ERGO Germany) on 1 May 2020. Kokkalas has been CEO of ERGO Insurance Company S.A. in Greece since 2004, and has also been a member of the Board of Directors of HDFC ERGO in India since 2018.

The Supervisory Board of Munich Re has appointed Dr. Achim Kassow to the Board of Management of Munich Re with effect from 1 May 2020. He will assume responsibility for the Asia Pacific and Africa division, as well as for the central divisions Central Procurement and Services. He has been with Munich Re Group since 2016.

Before joining ERGO, Kokkalas held various positions in insurance and banking. Kokkalas was born in Greece and studied at the universities of Piraeus and Athens, at INSEAD in France, and Leibniz University in Hanover, Germany. In addition to his native language of Greek, he speaks German and English fluently.
