Munich Re appoints Claus-Ulrich Kroll as new Canada CEO

Παρασκευή, 17 Μαΐου 2019 11:14

Claus-Ulrich Kroll has been appointed new president and chief executive officer (CEO) of both Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada and Temple Insurance Company.

Kroll replaces Philipp Wassenberg, who is now the chief executive officer of ERGO Austria International, a part of ERGO group of companies owned by Munich Re.

Kroll will join the board of directors of both Munich Re Canada and Temple, and be responsible for the operation of all of Munich Reinsurance Company’s non-life business in Canada.

Kroll has over 17 years’ experience in the global reinsurance and insurance markets. He joined Munich Reinsurance Company in 2008, in the corporate strategy department, where he is said to have played a key role in "developing and piloting strategic and transformational projects" for the entire group. He went on to hold various positions of increasing responsibility within the Munich Re Group.

Before transferring to Canada, Kroll was the head of a divisional unit, with responsibility for global aviation and space business, as well as the subsidiaries Munich Re of Malta, Great Lakes Insurance SE and New Reinsurance Company. He has served on numerous boards of directors of insurance and reinsurance companies in Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Malta.

"He is a strong proponent of business innovation, and will be making strategic use of the wide-ranging expertise offered within the global reach of Munich Reinsurance Company to provide the best possible service and support," Munich Re Canada said in a statement. "Claus is looking forward to continuing the collaborative and supportive partnership that MRoC and Temple have developed with our Canadian clients."
