Greece is right to be proud of the Posidonia shipping exhibition as it presents another reminder of the country’s leading position in this most international of international industries as well as underlines shipping's achievements overall.
Featuring a record 1,920 exhibitors from 92 countries, Posidonia 2018 covers 16% more space than its last edition two years ago. Further, the landmark event of global shipping will this year be covering an ever greater spectrum of related products, services and activities.
“The list of exhibitors has been expanded more than ever before, both in numbers and in scope,” Theodore Vokos, the executive director of Posidonia Exhibitions, told a May 31 press conference.
The June 4 - 8 exhibition at the Athens Metropolitan Expo venue includes 22 national pavilions to showcase each nation’s collective shipping offering to a captive audience of sellers, buyers of maritime products and services and policy makers.
Brazil and Poland will be debuting their pavilions next to the more established and traditional national presence of China, Japan, South Korea and western European countries such as the United Kingdom, Denmark and The Netherlands.
Furthermore, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping, the national shipping company of Azerbaijan; Bahri, the national shipping company of Saudi Arabia; and International Maritime Industries, the new shipyard project by Saudi Aramco, have chosen Posidonia as the global forum to present their new corporate identities.
And even the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has selected the event as the first non-cruise event to participate in.
In attendance will be IMO secretarygeneral Kitack Lim, European Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc and eight national shipping ministers.
