Barclays appoints Hiroshi Minoura as Chairman of Investment Banking in Japan
Δευτέρα, 05 Ιανουαρίου 2026 00:04Barclays Securities Japan Limited has announced the appointment of Hiroshi Minoura as Chairman of Investment Banking (IBK) in Japan. In this role, Minoura will provide strategic leadership and guidance to shape direction for Japan’s IBK business and align it with the business’ global priorities.
Minoura has been a Senior Advisor to the Investment Banking business in Japan since July 2024 and has played a pivotal role in advising the business. In his elevated role as Chairman, Minoura will further leverage his extensive global experience and strong industry network to lead on strategic transactions, drive cross-border deals, expand the client base and deepen engagement with them.
With 47 years of industry experience, Minoura previously served as Senior Advisor and Chairman at BofA Securities Japan, focusing on client relationships and business development. Before that, he spent 37 years at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, holding several senior roles in Japan and abroad, including Vice Chairman and Deputy President.
Japan remains one of the key markets for Barclays’ global investment banking business. Outbound cross-border M&A activity by Japanese companies continues to rise, while low interest rates, corporate governance reforms, and a weaker yen are driving strong capital inflows into Japan.
Yuzo Otsuka, Head of Investment Banking in Japan, commented: “Minoura’s appointment underscores our commitment to capturing growth opportunities in Japan. He has been an outstanding advisor and a terrific inspiration to our team. And now in his new capacity as Chairman, we will be able to deliver even greater value to our clients.”
