La Banque Postale Group publishes its first Transition Plan under the EU CSRD1 framework

Τετάρτη, 02 Απριλίου 2025 15:12

La Banque Postale Group – encompassing La Banque Postale and its subsidiaries CNP Assurances, LBP AM and Louvre Banque Privée – has released its first transition plan, as a complement to its sustainability report, in line with the new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requirements for non-financial reporting.

This publication anticipates the CSRD framework, which came into force in 2024 and mandates large companies to begin disclosing non-financial information from 2025 onwards. By releasing this transition plan voluntarily, La Banque Postale demonstrates its commitment to embracing and going beyond regulatory requirements, positioning the plan as a genuine driver of transformation. It complements the group’s sustainability report by laying out its long-term climate strategy.

The transition plan is a forward-looking document setting out the concrete actions La Banque Postale Group will implement by 2030 to meet its commitments to reduce its carbon footprint, particularly its financed emissions. It is distinct from the Climate and Nature Report and the company’s broader mission reports, which assess progress on ESG initiatives to date.

The plan presents decarbonisation levers across each business line, including the group’s support functions, and outlines key actions for the next five years, ensuring alignment between the group’s commitments and commercial strategy.

For instance, as part of its decarbonisation trajectory, La Banque Postale has pledged to cut indirect greenhouse gas emissions linked to its residential mortgage portfolio by 73.7% per square metre between 2022 and 2035. To help reach this target, the bank launched a new “impact mortgage” product in 2024, encouraging the purchase of energy-efficient properties and home renovations. It has also rolled out a major training programme on climate topics and is integrating ESG criteria – including GHG emissions – into annual performance-based compensation schemes.
