Barclays appoints Akihiko Yamada as Head of TMT, Investment Banking for Japan

Barclays announced that Mr. Akihiko Yamada has joined Barclays Securities Japan Limited and been appointed to the position of Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT), Investment Banking for Japan, effective 1 July 2023.

Mr. Yamada is a preeminent banker with over 17 years of extensive experience in TMT client coverage. He has expertise at originating and executing complex M&A transactions and has worked with Capital Markets teams to offer equity and debt financing solutions. Based in Tokyo, Mr. Yamada reports to Yuhiko Yano, Head of Investment Banking, Japan, and Vice Chairman, Barclays Securities Japan.

Mr. Yamada joins from Bank of America, where he spent 15 years, most recently as Managing Director in the Technology Group of Investment Banking Division. He started his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs, and prior to that, he worked for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI).
